Social Media Round Up – #Brangelina And Instagram Drafts


Social media went into meltdown earlier this week when the news was announced that Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie had spilt. Although some people seemed genuinely upset by the news of the A-listers impending divorce, others took to Twitter to share some hilarious Jennifer Aniston memes in various states of glee using the hashtag #Brangelina. Take a look at the round up on The Sun, as they point out at the end of the article – it’s a bit of a shame Jennifer Anniston isn’t even on twitter…



Twitter users now have the space to fit their thoughts in one tweet after the social media giant introduced a new update this week, allowing users to take full advantage of the 140 character limit. The limit used to include images, videos and GIFs, but this has now been taken away meaning that Tweeps can post what they are thinking, and also include a visual element to the Tweet, without running out of space. There were mixed reactions to the update on Twitter, many people were positive towards the change however, a number of users still moaned, with one tweeting ‘Big news, everything you ever wanted in Twitter except an edit button”. As Twitter continues to make significant changes, it will be interesting to see how content creators utilise the new update



All Instagram addicts will know that there is much more to the perfect post than simply taking a photo and uploading it. The craft that goes behind picking the perfect filter, tagging friends and choosing a worthy caption takes skill. To help the photo perfectionists, Instagram has introduced a ‘save draft’ feature giving users all the time they need to create the perfect post. Great for those wanting to wait for peak times to upload their photos (for maximum engagement and likes) and for brands having to upload several posts a day. We are looking forward to testing out the much-welcomed new feature.


This week, social media has gone in to overdrive in response to Google Street View’s face blurring of a cow in Cambridgeshire. The animal was snapped by Google’s cameras and given the same treatment humans receive for privacy reasons. A tweet by The Guardian’s David Shariatmadari highlighting the sight was retweeted more than 9,000 times after he spotted the bovine anomaly and posted it on Twitter, saying it was “great to see Google takes cow privacy seriously”. Twitter users then chipped in with hilarious puns including “Udderly ridiculous” and “Google teat view”. A spokesperson for Google then joined in and responded “We thought you were pulling the udder one when we herd the moos, but it’s clear that our automatic face-blurring technology has been a little overzealous. Of course, we don’t begrudge this cow milking its five minutes of fame.”
