Pilgrims Coffee – supporting a remote, sustainable café 

the brief_

Continuing with our successful track record of supporting small businesses in the north east – Siren was enlisted to help Pilgrims Coffee to encourage visitors back to the café following its re-opening post-lockdown. A small, ethical, family-run café set among the stunning surroundings of Holy Island, Lindisfarne, that is cut off by the tide twice a day – the story visually told itself. 


Siren’s brief was to encourage tourists to the island to visit the café, along with driving online coffee delivery sales.

the approach_

Crafting tailored messaging for local and national media, Siren drafted releases to suit both National and regional travel and food and drink titles. The remote location of the café sparked interest among media wanting to interview the owners, Andrew and Victoria. Interviews were secured with National Geographic Traveller Food and Northern Soul, with the coverage achieving the desired result and key messages. 


As restrictions came back into place in the North East, Pilgrims Coffee shifted its focus to online coffee sales with the introduction of its new coffee subscription offering. Siren was again enlisted to help with the crafting and selling in of the story, securing stories in key titles.

Stories encouraging travellers to visit Holy Island and Pilgrims Coffee House were published in key travel media including I News and National Geographic Traveller Food. With Siren also achieving stories in relevant local media promoting the café and online coffee subscription service. 


In a two month period, Siren increased the profile of Pilgrims Coffee House and its owners Andrew and Victoria Mundy through the placing of perfectly tailored and crafted stories.
