Making Waves With Mbna Thames Clippers

Last week Siren headed to Wight Shipyard on the Isle of Wight with a group of media for a sneak peek at the two new 170 capacity passenger boats which are set to join the MBNA Thames Clippers fleet in summer 2017.

These newest boats swiftly follow the two boats we welcomed to London in late 2015, in total adding an additional 30 per cent capacity in two years to the fleet. When the two new boats enter service, MBNA Thames Clippers will be the biggest commercial passenger fleet operating solely in English waters.

As well as getting behind the scenes access to the build, we also unveiled the names of the new boats to the visiting press and facilitated interviews with Sean Collins, CEO and co-founder of MBNA Thames Clippers and Peter Morton, CEO of Wight Shipyard Co.

As a firm family favourite in the Capital, MBNA Thames Clippers partnered with Fun Kids on a competition to name the two new boats which will be christened….drum roll please….Mercury Clipper and Jupiter Clipper.

From more than 1,100 entrants lucky 11-year-old, Lennon from Scotland was crowned as the winner and together with his family will be joining the MBNA Thames Clippers team in London this summer for the official naming ceremony.

The Fun Kids partnership allowed MBNA Thames Clippers to speak to a key demographic and raise awareness of the child friendly deals on board. The successful campaign included on-air brand mentions reaching 128,700 people and a total of 473,119 impacts.
