New service Bloggabase.com, the Femfresh debacle continues, judgement reserved on the appeal of Paul Chambers and Visit England delivers witty twitter feed during the England football game

- Posted Friday 29th Jun 2012

  • PRs and bloggers can make sure they are working in tune a bit more, following the launch of Bloggabase.com, a new service that allows closer contact between the two. Bloggers using the service will be able to register their field of expertise, be it travel, cooking or just about anything else, to ensure they only receive information that's relevant to them.

  • The online Femfresh debacle of last week seems to have died down but not before a spoof ‘apology letter' made the rounds on social media... a few rude words, so we won't share here - nothing a bit of a Google won't find for you though if you are interested.

  • Judgement has been reserved on the appeal of Paul Chambers - the man found guilty of posting a comment on Twitter threatening to blow up an airport. Tweeting extraordinaire Stephen Fry, who was at the High Court hearing, said it was "very important" for freedom of speech. Paul Chambers, 27, from Doncaster, who now lives in Northern Ireland, was convicted in May 2011 for sending "menacing electronic communication". He claimed it was a joke and wants his conviction and sentence quashed. Read the full story here.

  • Visit England was praised as one of the best uses of twitter from a marketing point of view for its witty twitter feed during the England vs. Italy football game last weekend. Mentioning England going out on penalties as one of England's traditions and customs with a link to their website to find out more about England's way of life. Take a look at their twitter feed here.

What people say

"Working with Siren is an absolute pleasure. They deliver great results for us and have outstanding relationships with all media partners. Professional, creative and a true partner."

Andy Freeth, Managing Director, Travel 2

"Siren has acted for ABTA both on campaign assignments following the Icelandic Ash Cloud and providing interim support for our day to day operations during a period of intense activity. On the creative front, Siren came up with ideas to celebrate our 60th Anniversary in 2010 and engage with a new audience. The Schools Art Challenge was a great success, which was cost effective and very well managed. We would recommend them as a travel PR and communications agency."

“Siren Communications has managed the ATPI Group’s PR business since 2009. We find the team at Siren Communications very approachable, with strong strategic thinking combined with creative flair. They have managed to successfully bring our brand alive in the media and are true partners in our communications strategy.”

Jeroen van Hest, Head of Group Marketing, ATPI

"Siren operates as a seamless extension of our Marketing and Communications team. They have their finger on the pulse of our issues, and can be trusted to find creative ways of expressing our messages, while keeping them rooted in the operational reality of our business. Their professional approach would be hard to beat."

“It’s been a pleasure working with Siren Communications in the build-up to our inaugural Hospitality Technology event. Their persistence, dedication and on-the-ground media intelligence has achieved us great coverage in a number of our key target publications and given us great profile within the hospitality industry in the run up to our new show as well as promoting the tenth anniversary of our Travel Technology Europe event. We have been very impressed with Siren’s ability to balance the press office demands of a well-established event whilst driving excitement and buzz around a brand new launch event. The team secured a strong list of influential journalists to attend both events and the feedback that we’ve had from both media and the industry itself has been second to none. I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend their services.”
